BT launches iPlate to boost broadband speeds
Security News| July 3rd, 2008BT has made available to consumers the iPlate, a device that it claims will boost internet speeds for ADSL lines. According to the telecoms giant, electrical equipment such as microwave ovens, faulty television power supplies and even Christmas lights interfere with broadband connections and affect its reliability. However, BT claims the iPlate, which was first announced in March this year, can be attached to the master telephone socket to remove interference and can improve broadband speeds by an average of 1.5Mbps.BT trialled the device which it initially said would cost in the region of ?10 with 1,000 customers earlier this year and said it was happy with the results.
